Well, nothing breakthrough in the title. Is there? And there is nothing so world changing in the following lines as well. Just an outpouring of some thoughts late at night or say early in the morning, because, nothing would ever change even after me writing this or you reading this. So for all those who are stretched for time please close the window as I don't want to be guilty of wasting anybody's time or energy. And of course, consequently don't want more bad karma on my soul. Rest of you who actually are lucky to find some free time in this world of ultra busy people can read on if you have exhausted everything else there is to read.
I have always believed in Karma. As a kid we read some lines like "Do unto others as you would want others do unto you" and "What goes round comes around" and stuff like that. Without anybody coaching me or teaching me, I have always believed in the essence of Karma. So why is Karma a bitch? It is completely fair and rational that if we do something bad to others someday we will have to payback. And that is completely fair. E.g. if I cheat in a game then I can't complain if someone else cheats against me. More than god I believe in Karma. Oh wait, it just happened, but I think people will ignore my blasphemy about believing in the God thing. On second thoughts, I don't freaking (in order to avoid the more popular word here) care. I will let Karma decide whether that was bad or not.
But then, why is it that there are some people who are nice to everyone and still struggle at every step of life? They have no bad karma. For some, nothing seems to go right ever, baring few rare cases. Then come the theories about luck, destiny and god. I say I differ. God is just a creation of man out of fear. Something of a fallback option. Something to which we can attribute the unexplained. I don't understand that if something is unexplained why can't we leave it there till there is something to explain rather attribute it to god. I know many people for whom nothing ever seems to go smooth. No matter how right they do things, no matter how purely they do it. There are some whom I have known my entire adult life and they haven't done anything bad to anyone and there is little reason to believe they would have done something acutely grave in their adolescence. And there are others who just sail through life. Rough seas, bad luck, struggles are some concepts which are lost on them. I should reiterate though, that nobody would ever say that have not seen struggles or have not had bad luck but I am talking in relative terms. Because, frankly, not being able to buy a second car does not count as struggle for me but it would be counted as such by some. This is not God. What god is he if he cannot do right to the people who do right things.
All this is in view of the present life only.
Recently I also read an essay by Bhagat Singh when he was in jail before his execution. It is an amazing essay, a food for thought for everyone from every religion which reinforced my personal belief that I doubt that there might be god as we have created and believed to be. Coming back to Karma. The theory of Karma extends across lifetimes as per Hinduism. This is where I start doubting Karma as well. This is where it doesn't sound fair. Why would somebody struggle in this life for some bad karma in previous life. It is like making a student kneel down outside the class for something he did the previous year. Detain him next year for failing this year. How does that sound? Sounds weird to me. So why Karma should be like that. And how does it serve any purpose when people don't even know why and what they are being punished for. How is help? If I do something wrong in this life I should be punished in this and this life alone. And if I am living a righteous life in this life I should not be punished for something from the previous life, if there is a such thing like previous life. So, when we talk about karma in the context of only the present life it is fair and square, no complaints. But if there is any reality to the concept as it is, which spans multiple lives, then my friend Karma is a bitch and a damn bloody vindictive bitch at that.
So no matter whether the god concept or karma of multiple lives concept, is true, we are doomed and 'destined' to be bitten.
